Internship context

The nutritional requirements of breeding sows are constantly evolving as genetic patterns change.
Today, they are estimated using a factorial approach and are highly dependent on sow performance (prolificacy level, milk production, ability to mobilize and reconstitute body reserves) and their environment.

At the same time, new equipment on farms enables real-time performance data to be collected, such as animal consumption and weight. These systems will make it possible to take into account performance heterogeneity and individualize feed intake during gestation and lactation, to better match nutritional needs and meet the expectations of the industry.

Internship assignments

Under the supervision of the Pork Department and the Research and Development Department of the TECHNA Group's service company, you will be responsible for :

  • Build a database to valorize individual and daily data collected on sows using precision feeding systems.

  • Update estimates of the nutritional requirements of breeding sows in relation to zootechnical performance and reserve mobilization/reconstitution kinetics.

  • Contribute to future developments of the feeding strategy software for breeding sows developed by the firm-services.

Profile required

With an engineering background in agronomy, agriculture or biostatistics, you are in the final year of your degree course and are required to write a dissertation.

You are curious and interested in innovative techniques, modeling and data processing.
You've already had experience of using PYTHON, R or SAS, or of scripting applications.

Terms and conditions

Location : Techna Group headquarters: Couëron (44), 15 km from Nantes.

Period : First half of 2024

Duration : 6 months

Compensation : €4.05/hour (i.e. an average of €614/month for 35 hours/week worked) + luncheon vouchers + access to CE social benefits.

Driving license and personal vehicle required.

Recruitment process

During a second interview, this time in person, you will meet the internship supervisor, accompanied by a representative of the HR department.
