A strategic investment for dynamic performance management in livestock farming
With an investment of over €2 million in recent years, TECHNA is setting up a ‘Data and Software’ infrastructure to boost the competitiveness of players in the poultry, ruminant and pig sectors, both in France and on an international scale.
This structuring project is based in particular on the real-time collection of livestock data (growth, consumption, environment, production, health, etc.) through Kumulus, a subsidiary of the TECHNA Group specialising in the capture and processing of livestock data.
The data collected is then validated, analysed and interpreted by TECHNA's multidisciplinary team, composed of data engineers, data scientists and nutrition engineers. The aim is to deepen our understanding of the interactions and correlations between feed, the animal's environment and performance. This is a major challenge, as feed accounts for 40 to 80% of livestock production costs, depending on the species, as well as the environmental impact of livestock farming.
This project complements the expertise of our field teams. It draws on more than 60 years of TECHNA know-how and data collected at our two experimental stations and on commercial farms in several countries. By now fully exploiting real-time, continuous livestock data covering several species and regions, TECHNA reaffirms its ambition: to combine technological innovation, science and local field support to contribute to the sustainability and competitiveness of animal production around the world.
WeFeed: decision support software for feed manufacturers and integrators
The value of data collected in real time and continuously enables the development of robust decision-making models, giving rise to a new offering integrated into TECHNA's WeFeed software platform.
Available from early 2026, these innovative data and software solutions will provide feed manufacturers and integrators with new indicators to identify performance gaps, anticipate and better manage critical periods, move towards more individualised nutrition and dynamically manage performance. They thus pave the way for more precise, responsive and predictive management of livestock feeding and provide decisive levers for improving the competitiveness of livestock farms.
